From the Heart Stamps September Stamp of the Month

30 Sep 2013 - Update on From The Heart Stamps Design Team Call
Not on the design team, but...

I was invited to be a guest designer in December and January.  For all the results visit the results post on their blog at

From the Heart Stamps.

This card was created using the Stamp of the Month for September and posting it qualifies me for another free stamp in October.  Join in the fun.

For this card, I colored the image with my Copics markers and used chevrons in multiple ways to embellish the card.

The block of chevrons was made using the Chevron embossing folder from Stampin' Up.  I brayered the raised part of the embossed pattern with Not Quite Navy ink.

The two chevrons that cross the card horizontallly were made with layered Chevron Stripe dies from My Favorite Things.

Thought for the week...God is our Home

In my recent reading, I came across this story told by the poet Kathleen Norris.

One morning, this past spring I noticed a young couple with an infant at an airport departure gate.  The baby was staring intently at other people and as soon as he gained another person’s attention, no matter who it was, young or old, pretty or ugly, bored or happy or worried-looking, he would respond with absolute delight.

It was beautiful to see.  Our drab departure gate had become the gate of heaven.  And as I watched that baby interact with anyone who would allow it, I felt as awestruck as Jacob, because I realized that this is how God looks at us, staring into our faces in order to be delighted, to see the creatures he made and called good along with the rest of creation.

Kathleen goes on to say that she suspects that only God (and well-loved infants) can see this way.

God looks on us with delight.  He knows us, recognizes us as His and he wants us to come Home.  Give Him even a moment of your attention and he will make good use of it.

In fact, God has arranged the whole of creation as an invitation to turn to Him, to recognize His goodness, to penetrate the divine mystery of his love for us.  “I was a hidden treasure”, says God, “and I longed to be known so I created the world.
