Borrowed Inspiration...

A friend who is a Stampin' Up Demonstrator loaned me the "Wheely Sweet Friend" stamp set so I could give it a try and figure out if I wanted to buy it.

It has lots of cute images including the soda bottle with two straws that I used here.  I made the background paper using Hero Arts "Dots" - it has some dots that are solid, some that are outlined and some that are filled with fine, closely-spaced lines.  I stamped it with Hero Arts Mid Tone Tide Pool then colored some of the dots with my Wink of Stella glitter pens (from Zig).  All the images are stamped with Hero Arts Mid-tone Inks.

When I first assembled the card it seemed very pastel so I added some black cardstock behind the middle panel to provide contrast and interest.

A little bling finished the thing...hope you like it!

Lovely Little Lemon Tapas...

Last week I hosted a group of ladies for a meal of tapas.  One of the dessert offerings was these  Lovely Little Lemon Brownies.  I'm not sure why they are called brownies - there is nothing "brown" about them.  In fact, the only thing they have in common with brownies is that they are baked in the same kind of pan.

They were a big hit, which means there were mulitple requests for the recipe, so I thought I would share them with you.  They did have wonderful texture, were very moist, and the very lemony glaze game them great lemon flavor.

I used a pastry cutter to cut them into rounds and dropped them into little ramekins.  No, those are not giant basil leaves...the spoon is an appetizer spoon and the ramekins are only 2" in diameter.

If you want to try making them you can find the recipe here.  Thanks, Becky

I recommend making them the day before you want to serve them - the glaze is absorbed into the baked bars very slowly.   Also, be sure and serve them at room temperature which improves the consistency and flavor.  ENJOY!

College Care Packages

Our Church  Women's Circle does college care packages twice a year and coming up with something creative to add to the mix can be challenging.

This semester, I did a different take on candy bar messages - incorporating the names of a group of goodies (that I hope will appeal to the recipients) in an "end of semester" message....I know, I know: the wrapping is a bit much but I try to use what I have.
