Here's my offering for From the Heart Stamps Sketch #40 which was actually supposed to be posted by yesterday...oh well.  I didn't make the deadline but I did have fun with this sketch and I love Birdbrain Chick (don't you?).  This image is called Holly Jollly Christmas.

For this one, I used randomly cut strips of paper to create the rounded background shape but didn't make it a smooth curve.  The holly accent was done with a Sizzix Embosslits.  I wish they would do more of these in classic designs like this holly.

I used my Wink of Stella glitter pens to add subtle touches of glitter here and there.  They add just the right something extra.  I hope you can see the effect they give in the detail shot: the dots were made with the pens and I also highlighted some other things...like the red Christmas tree balls.  As I'm sure you can tell; "Ho Ho Ho" was wet-embossed.

Don't you just love getting ready for Christmas?!

From the Heart Stamps Sketch #40 and #41

FTHS Sketch #41

I'm not going to miss the deadline this week. FTHS posted Sketch #41 this morning and here's my version.  I used their image Seven Christmas Birds.

This card is a pretty straight-forward interpretation of the sketch but a couple of things are worth noticing.  To add texture, I frayed some brown burlap for the back layer of the vertical strip and I embellished it with some dark green boughs punched using Martha Stewart's "Branch" punch (see detail photo).

The background paper, which is a work of art all by itself is Bazzill Basics "Believe" which is two-sided.  The second side is red dots on tan and is used in the rounded banner.

I hope you're having tons of fun making Christmas cards.
